HUDSON, Mass. - April 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Jim Elkind has been named chief executive officer of New England Clean Energy LLC, a solar installation company in Hudson, Mass., President Mark Durrenberger announced today.

“We’ve been growing steadily since I founded New England Clean Energy in 2006,” Durrenberger said, “but the competition grows daily as out-of-state installers rush into Massachusetts to take advantage of generous government incentives. Jim’s business expertise will help us become an even stronger company strategically and financially, and ensure that we are here long after the incentives go away. My partners and I are excited to work with Jim in his new capacity,” he said.

“New England Clean Energy is a leader in quality as well as quantity. Our record in local installations is matched by our reputation for customer service and environmental commitment. This is the type of company I want to lead -- I believe in the product and I have the utmost respect for my colleagues here. I look forward to helping the company thrive during the current solar boom while building a sustainable business for the long term, one that does well by doing good,” Elkind said.

New England Clean Energy has installed 300 solar energy systems, and put more solar on Central Massachusetts homes than any other local installer. MassSolarInfo.com awarded the company Highest Customer Satisfaction among Massachusetts installers in 2012, and 98 percent of customers surveyed in 2013 rated the company four or five stars out of five for overall satisfaction. New England Clean Energy has received numerous business awards, including the “Green Award” from the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce earlier this year.

Elkind joined New England Clean Energy in March 2012 as its Solarize Massachusetts program manager. Prior to joining New England Clean Energy, Elkind held senior positions including vice president at Integra Technology Consulting, head of his own management consultancy, director of operations at Tilion, Inc., and senior manager at KPMG Consulting. He has advised companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 clients including General Electric and T-Mobile.

Elkind has a deep interest in energy efficiency and sustainability. He served as Community Coordinator for the town of Harvard’s 2011 Solarize program, which resulted in more than 400 kW of solar power being installed in the town. He is a member of the Harvard (MA) Energy Advisory Committee, a LEED Green Associate, and a member of the Association of Energy Engineers. He is on the board of the Mad River Glen Cooperative, and a former board member of the Harvard Conservation Trust.

“At New England Clean Energy, we have fun doing meaningful work that benefits people and the planet. Solar helps customers secure their energy futures with reliable, cost-effective and clean electricity, and it helps address climate change and the country’s need for energy independence,” Elkind said.

Elkind holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Harvard University, and an MBA from MIT Sloan School.  In his spare time, he likes to ski, bike, read and spend time with his wife and two children. He lives in Harvard.
