Kent State novel is finalist in 2013 Best Indie Book ward for 2013 for general fiction

Author Kathy Clark, when teamed up with her husband Bob Wernly, write under the name of Bob Kat and received several other awards already this year.  Kathy is a New York Times bestselling author and has won previous awards from the USA Today and several other organizations over her career that has spanned 27 books.

“Life’s What Happens is set at Kent State in late 1969 to May, 1970 and is a fictionalized treatment of the impact on nine college students who received low Vietnam war draft lottery numbers,” said Bob Wernly.  “The Kent State and ever present antiwar protest backdrop was perfect and familiar as I graduated in May, 1970.”

“We wrote the story as a flashback.  We wanted the reader to experience what these young adults were like back in the day and how they changed when they made the decisions they did,” Kathy explained.
