Women Who Dare to Win: Celebrating You, Your BFF & The Power of Relationships for a Worthy Cause

While many of today’s professional and entrepreneurial women have succeeded in various ways, the stories behind their success often deserve a platform of their own. Most all women have a best friend (BFF) and agree that a good friend is a connection to life, a person who keeps her grounded. That's one of the reasons Dr. Trevicia Williams, organizational psychologist, personal and professional development expert, keynote speaker, author, and, former Texas child bride created Women Who Dare to Win: Celebrating You, Your BFF & the Power of Relationships. The event, benefiting Real Beauty Inside Out a charity that helps mothers and their teen daughters have healthy relationships in hopes of preventing teen pregnancies, is happening Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Central Park Conference Center at Collin County Community College. It's a timely event during National Month to Prevent Pregnancies.

During the inspirational half day event, women and their BFF will be celebrated for their beauty from the inside out, their journeys, and, accomplishments. Women are invited to bring their BFF, share the experience, join the gal pal forum at the event and celebrate the power of friendships. There's also a line-up of dynamic speakers, including Dr. Trevicia Williams of Getting There TV Show, Sonya J. Wells of Drama Free Living and Maria Luce of The Empowered Mom. Dallas professional, entrepreneurial and small business owner women will also strut for the cause as they model the season's look, colors, and, accessories.

Dr. Williams will share her expertise from over a 20 years of helping people grow personally along with wisdom from her extraordinary beginnings as a 14 year old African American girl picked up from high school by her mother and placed in an arranged marriage in Houston, Texas to help mothers and their teen daughters build healthy relationships.

"One of the big gaps between trouble in school and teen pregnancy prevention is healthy mother daughter relationships," says Dr. Williams.

Not only will women be empowered, Dr. Williams expects to accomplish more of her mission to empower girls and women during her signature "I Love You, But I Can't Stand You Right Now(TM)" healthy mother teen daughter relationship workshop she will facilitate after the event. From Texas child bride and teen mother to psychologist, Dr. Trevicia will share hard-earned wisdom, real-life strategies, and, important communication skills which will empower mothers and their teen daughters. McKinney I.S.D. as well as the greater Dallas Fort Worth area mothers and their teen daughters are invited to participate in the fun interactive workshop.

"Teens are less likely to take unsafe risks, have sex, do drugs, drink, smoke or get into trouble at school when they have healthy relationships with their parents. They are also more likely to have healthier relationships with others during their teenage years and beyond," says Dr. Williams.

As with Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew, Dr. Trevicia agrees that dealing with the mindsets and behaviors of teens of such as those on reality shows like, recently cancelled NBC's Parenthood, Teen Mom, Teen Mom 2 and MTV's 16 and Pregnant can be difficult.

"While these reality shows discuss the realities of teens during adolescent years and the pains of growing up and being pregnant at the same time, they also seem to glamorize negative teen behaviors and attitudes, puberty, sex, raising teenagers successfully, teen anger and negate teen pregnancy prevention beginning with the fundamentals such as healthy parent child teen relationships," says Dr. Williams.
