Truliant Federal Credit Union Awards 15 Scholarships

In the continued spirit of giving back to the community, Truliant Federal Credit Union will award 15 college scholarships, totaling $21,500 to their member-owners through the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation (CCUF) scholarship program.
 
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - April 22, 2013 - PRLog -- In the continued spirit of giving back to the community, Truliant Federal Credit Union will award 15 college scholarships, totaling $21,500 to their member-owners through the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation (CCUF) scholarship program. Truliant’s member-owners will receive scholarships from four Scholar Vision Funds: the Fred J. Sarda Fund, Telephone Pioneers Fund, General Merit Fund and the Clyde O. Padgett Fund.

Truliant established the Sarda Scholarship in 1996, as part of the Scholar Vision Funds to honor Fred J. Sarda, a founding member of the Credit Union. The six recipients of $1,000 Sarda Scholarships for 2013 are: Tanner Wilson of High Point, N.C., Thomas Gromko of Greensboro, N.C., Cody Wright of Ridgeway, V.A., Eric Brandt of Asheville, N.C., Carla Restina of Greensboro, N.C., and Juan Clavijo of Clemmons, N.C.

The Telephone Pioneers Club Scholarship is awarded each year to five Truliant member-owners who are related to a past or current employee of AT&T or Lucent Technologies in the Winston-Salem area. The five recipients of $2,000 Pioneer Club scholarships are: Nicholas Herring of Greensboro, N.C., Elizabeth Piwowarski of Richmond, V.A., Alexander Allen of Thomasville, N.C., Zoe Little of Sophia, N.C., and Rebecca Farley of Greensboro, N.C.

The Carolinas Credit Union Foundation General Fund is awarded based on merit. The three recipients of $1,500 General Fund scholarships are: Alexander Valitutto of Greensboro, N.C., Sean Lindsey of Kernersville, N.C., and Austin Eckhardt of Strasburg, O.H.

The Clyde O. Padgett Scholarship of $1,000, a scholarship that provides funds to help Truliant employees, volunteers and their families continue their education will be awarded to Jenafer Reisenauer of Winston-Salem, N.C.

Truliant’s scholarship program is offered annually, and members are encouraged to apply starting at the beginning of each year. This year, Truliant received more than 200 applications during the four month application period. “This year, the competition was extremely close with many high caliber students and tremendous talent,” said Marjorie Rorie, director of community services for Truliant. “I wish we could have awarded scholarships to them all.”

Recipients of the Truliant scholarships will be recognized at the company’s annual meeting to be held at their corporate headquarters in Winston-Salem on April 22, 2013.To find out more about Truliant, visit TruliantFCU.org.
