Follow on Google News | Pilgrim Lutheran School Collects over 1027 Cans for St. Cecilia's Food Bank PantryBy: Pilgrim Lutheran School, Beaverton On Wednesday, April 10th, Pilgrim’s student leadership gathered up 1027 cans of food collected throughout the month, amounting to 1178 pounds, and loaded them into a truck via a FoodChain the children created, much like a fire station bucket brigade. The cans were then driven St. Cecilia (well before school started that morning). “Throughout the year, our students have been involved with various community projects,” noted Mr. Chris Herold, principal. “Our school had a contest to see who could collect the most cans. The 4-8th graders were the winners who will receive a free period. We are continually amazed by the spirit and drive our children put into projects like this.” St. Cecilia works with the Oregon Food Bank to distribute food to local families in need. The school is adding Pilgrim’s donations to their food bank pantry. Local families who have gone through the care to share certification system are eligible for donations from the St. Cecilia food pantry. The Oregon Food Bank also supplies food for their pantry.
