Attorney Demetria Graves Served as Conference Speaker

GLENDALE, Calif. - April 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Glendale Divorce Attorney Demetria L. Graves served as a workshop speaker at the 2013 Young African American Women’s Conference (YAAWC), an event that is designed to inspire middle school and high school girls in pursuing successful futures. Attorney Graves’ involvement in the conference—which had a theme of “Imagine Yourself...”—is just one example of the many ways the legal professional works to better the lives of others in the greater Los Angeles area.

The full-day interactive conference, which was presented by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Pasadena Alumnae Chapter, was held on Saturday, April 13 at Pasadena City College. The aim of the event was to inspire and motivate young African American women to make choices in that will lead to their future success and well-being. The “Imagine Yourself…” YAAWC conference included a keynote speaker, workshops, exhibitors and a special closing activity inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign.

Attorney Graves is an accomplished attorney who handles various types of family law matters for clients throughout Los Angeles County. The lawyer received bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley and then received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. She practiced family law at a small firm located in Arcadia but then went on to start her own firm in Glendale. In 2007, Attorney Graves also started teaching at West Los Angeles Community College. She is a member of multiple bar associations, which include the Pasadena Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Langston Bar Association.

Ms. Graves is also highly active in her community and in various women’s organizations. In 2006, she became the legal chair for the YWCA of Glendale. She is also a member of Step Up Women’s Network, the National Association of Women’s Business Owners (NAWBO), Business and Professional Women and other groups. The lawyer has been publicly recognized for her various career achievements. Attorney Graves has received a Women in Business Award, an Attorney of the Year Award and a Teacher of the Year award (from West Los Angeles Community College). She has also served as an on-air commentator for Hollywood 411, Fox 11 News and TV Guide Network.
