Walk The Fire: Kickstarting a new volume in the shared world anthology series.

Given the rapidly changing publishing market, series creator John Mierau and co-editor David Sobkowiak chose Kickstarter to fund editing, layout, and production of the book, as well as offering professional rates to the authors.

"'Walk the Fire' unites traditionally published and independent authors to create a shared world, hearkening back to George RR Martin's 'Wild Cards' and Robert Lynn Asprin' s 'Thieves World'", says Mierau.

"I am grateful to be working with these well-known and emerging authors I know and respect to expand the world of the Ferrymen, and the mysterious Flames that let them walk instantly between cities and worlds.”

The Kickstarter campaign includes exclusive rewards for backers, including advance-order ebook copies of the anthology, trade paperbacks, limited edition art, backers' names used in stories, signed manuscripts and more.

The two editors also chose Kickstarter in the hopes of securing additional funding to open 'Walk The Fire' to submissions, allowing them to spotlight new and emerging talent alongside the current collaborators:

Two-time Campbell nominee Mur Lafferty, Hugo nominee Paul Levinson, Philippa Ballantine, Harry Connolly, JRD Skinner, Steve Umstead, Matt Iden, WJ Davies and more.

With an introduction by New York Times best-selling author and new media pioneer Scott Sigler, "'Walk The Fire' will harness a hybrid of traditional publishing and new media talent to expand this compelling shared world," promises creator Mierau.
