By: Carl Nagaitis, Bryher Business Partnership The closure of two key Astra Zeneca sites in Sweden in recent years had created a flurry of investment with former staff of the life science giant launching their own small businesses. “Those sites have now been transformed into established science parks and we could see something similar happening at Alderley Park following Astra Zeneca’s exit in 2016,” added Ms Robertshaw, a Stockport-based consultant who worked at the Alderley Park site for four years. “Of course I was very saddened to hear the news that AstraZeneca want to move South. But we should remember that changes of this scale can also bring great opportunities. I have visited the former Astra Zeneca sites in Lund and Södertälje in Sweden which are now growing science parks in their own right. “If Alderley Park goes in the same direction as Lund and Sodertalje who knows what will happen? It could be good news for Cheshire and provide a boost for smaller businesses in the life science and pharma sectors.” Lucy is currently flitting between her Stockholm office and her Heaton Moor home on a mission to identify and sign up new clients for APL, a 30-years old 50 million Euro turnover pharmaceutical developer and manufacturer. “The smaller life science companies who might be attracted to a base in Alderley Park are exactly the type of client that would appreciate the expertise and support that they would receive from a company like APL. “Whether they require assistance with pharmaceutical development or manufacturing services, APL has the experience and the know-how.” For further information click onto www.apl.se or call Lucy direct on: +46 (0)706280230 ENDS End
