By: Quality Parks Sitting behind the Flanders Fire House, within easy walking distance is a beautiful freshwater wetland. The Flanders Critical Resource Area also contains a Native American Indian Heritage, as evidenced by archeological finds. And it is home to a dramatic wildfire landscape: http://www.qualityparks.org/ A valued treasure of the Flanders Community, this natural area could be reinvented to benefit hikers, mountain bicycling, equestrian, cross country skiers, and nature lovers. Bringing green ecotourism dollars to Flanders, it is Instead being trashed by vandals, illegal ATV riders, and arsonists. We hope you can find some time to help us clean up this Suffolk County Parkland. This is one of the many environmental training programs for natural areas that we are offering. Fire Ecologist, Mindy Block, will also be leading a wildfire expedition to this area on May 18th, as part of the Quality Parks Master Naturalist program. Contact us for more details. Hope you can make our April 21 Clean Up - Meet at Flanders Fire House - Bring Gloves and Snacks - 11 AM End
