PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - April 19, 2013 - PRLog -- April 11th marked the first anniversary of the creation of the Marketplace for Social Awareness and Social Responsibility, launched in 2012 to promote and support programs, initiatives, and events that address social, economic and political issues.

The Marketplace was created with a simple concept in mind, leverage social media to provide a vehicle for individuals to collaborate, unite, and effect change.   The Marketplace believes that if a mechanism is created for people to communicate and share information, a “Marketplace” of sorts, they will be in a better position to collaborate and work collectively.

The Marketplace is focused on:

•       Voter's rights
•       Stop, Question, and Frisk
•       Affirmative action
•       Reforming our criminal justice system
•       Disparities in our educational system
•       The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and organizations with similar agendas

The Marketplace looks ahead to their second year with great promise.  The MSASR Social Responsibility Scholarship Program was launched in February. The program consists of a portfolio of scholarships for students that display an outstanding commitment to social responsibility The Marketplace will be awarding their first Community Service Scholarships in the upcoming months. The URL for the program is http://www.mfsasr.com/msasr-social-responsibility-scholarship-program.html
