 Fifth Wheel St.’s Founder Celebrates Two Years Serving Recreational Vehicle OwnersThe founder of Fifth Wheel St., one of the fastest growing self-help websites, celebrates the second anniversary of providing recreational vehicle safety information, weight safety reports and user friendly apps.
By: Fifth Wheel St. Gray said that it has been amazing how fast Fifth Wheel St. has become a popular website among the RV owner's population. He states, “Two years ago, Fifth Wheel St. was an idea that started out of frustration from the lack of information and simplicity on how to correctly weigh a tow vehicle and trailer.” Gray had been pondering during the day on April 18, 2011 why there was not a user friendly website to help RVers understand how to weigh their rigs. That night, Gray decided to use his learned skills and problem solving work experience from his years in the US Army and his former job as an electronics technician at the US Postal Service. Gray worked through the night and about noon the following day; Fifth Wheel St. appeared on the internet for the first time. The growth of Fifth Wheel St. has birthed new products as well. In May of 2012, Gray introduced the Fifth Wheel St. app for iOS devices. Three months later, Gray announced the same app for Android devices. After nearly a year of problem solving research, Gray created the first web-based app for RV buyers. Gray’s app, Before You Buy RV (BYBRV), provides a simple way to ensure the RV buyer’s purchase is a compatible weight safety match. In April of 2013, Gray introduced the first app for truck camper (TC) buyers. Collaborating with a Canadian, Gray developed the Before You Buy TC (BYBTC) web-based app. Both BYBRV and BYBTC are complimentary apps that function on Smartphones and larger mobile devices. To date, Gray states that the visitor growth of Fifth Wheel St. has been 460% above the same period last year and that the increasing app purchases have been made from all over the world, including China, Australia and New Zealand. Gray also states that the BYBRV app has become the most used of all four of his apps and that user calculations have surpassed 2,000 per month. Gray believes this just shows how popular Rving has become and that RVers are concerned about safety. Gray was recently asked how he became an expert and protested, saying, “I’m not an expert by any means when compared to other leaders in the industry, but I am an expert at research and solving problems and I turn that information into creating helpful aids.” Fifth Wheel St., one of the fastest growing self-help RV safety websites, is the brainchild of full-time RVer David Gray and was founded in April 2011 to promote RV safety by providing tow ratings, simplified weighing worksheets, web-based and mobile app calculators as well as important articles and safety information to assist truck camper owners and all who tow fifth wheel, gooseneck and conventional trailers.
