FM-200 System Saves the Day at Wisconsin Data Center

April 18, 2013 - PRLog -- COLUMBUS, Ohio- On Feb. 20, 2013 a Sieman's FM-200 fire suppression system install by Brothers Fire Protection saved materials in a data center in central Wisconsin. The system activated appropriately and alerted the building's owner.

A universal power supply in the 3,800-square-foot data room caught fire in the early morning hours of Feb 20. Fortunately for the business owner, their data room had been equipped with a Siemen’s Brand FM-200 dry chemical suppression system (with a Double Interlock Pre-Action System) by Brothers Fire Protection.

Within 30 seconds of fire recognition, the system activated its pre-distribution alarm alerting the owner of the fire. Another 30 seconds later, the six nozzle system released 1,425 pounds of chemicals and exhausted the fire within 10 seconds. Because the system didn't need water to extinguish and control the fire, the customer experienced no loss or damage to their property.

The clean-up was minimal and the customer never lost use of computers, servers and other equipment, and the data center was able to continue to operate as normal.

Since the data center still had a double interlock pre-action fire sprinkler back-up, the customer was never without fire suppression protection. Brothers Fire Protection was on site the same day to remove the two chemical tanks, and bring them back for refilling and re-testing.
