A Classical Evening In Celebration of Ocean City’s Restoration

Philadelphia International Music Festival announces a concert in celebration of the rebuilding of the Jersey Shore

WILLIAMSTOWN, N.J. - April 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Ocean City, NJ- The Philadelphia International Music Festival invites you to a free special concert event on Saturday, April 20th to benefit Hurricane Sandy relief efforts at Ocean City Tabernacle. Marcucci sisters, Madison, a PIMF alum and graduate of the Juilliard School, and Michal, student with the Baptist Regional School in Haddon Heights will accompany Ocean City High School graduate, Ellen Youssefian, for an evening of classical music in celebration of rebuilding the Jersey Shore. Yossefian later attended Germany's Wurzburg School of Music on an International Rotary Foundation Scholarship from the Ocean City Rotary.

On October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on New Jersey’s Eastern shoreline. The tropical storm known as “Frankenstorm” and now known as Hurricane Sandy claimed many lives throughout the once beautiful Garden State. Residents throughout New Jersey were forced to wait in seemingly endless lines to fuel up their cars and access to electricity for weeks following.

Hammonton native, Sandy Marcucci, the festival's Co-founder and President said, "Ocean City is dear to the hearts of just about everyone who grew up in Southern New Jersey. Our upcoming concert at the Tabernacle represents just one way that those of us in the world of classical music can celebrate the work that has already been done in Ocean City - and help ensure that efforts continue in the rebuilding of the Jersey Shore."

The Marcucci sisters are daughters of Sandra Marcucci. The girls, like their mother, also have grown up close the Jersey Shore. They have fond memories of their childhood summers being spent with their friends and family in Ocean City especially. This Saturday, April 20th, the Marcucci’s and Yossefian will be performing pieces by Mozart and Bach, along with others. “We wanted to give back to the community that helped us grow up,” the Marcucci sister’s both agree that, “Music is a beautiful to bring beauty to those who have been through disaster. We are delighted to have this opportunity.”

This free one night concert event will start at 7pm on Saturday, April 20th at 500 Wesley Avenue, Ocean City, New Jersey. For for more information or to reserve tickets, contact Sean McGrellis from PIMF at (856) 875-6816.

The Philadelphia International Music Festival (http://www.pimf.org) began as a 40-student program founded in the home CEO Sandra Marcucci.  It has grown in 15 years to include three camp programs in two states and two countries, with more than 300 young musicians attending programs over the years. This year, we hope to mark the festival program’s largest attendance count. PIMF is a series of music programs offering students of all ages and skill levels in the U.S. and abroad the unique opportunity of spending 14 days immersed in classical music education and performance with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra. The summer music program includes full symphonic repertoire and is conducted on the exquisite, estate-like grounds of Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
