By: PS38PTA P.S. 38 THE PACIFIC SCHOOL - 1st ANNUAL SPRING CARNIVAL SATURDAY, APRIL 20, 2013 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM P.S. 38 The Pacific School, located at 450 Pacific Street (District 15), will be having its First Annual Spring Carnival hosted by the Parent Teacher Association in partnership with Boerum Hill Association and the Dodge YMCA Afterschool program on Saturday, April 20, 2013, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the school’s spacious outdoor grounds. Admission is free to the public. Ride admission will be a $12 unlimited ride wristband, 2 for $20 wristband sibling discount. Game tickets are $1. There will also be raffles for CD box sets, Brooklyn Cyclone tickets and more; tickets for the raffles range from $1 each to $5 each per prize. The theme for the Spring Carnival is “Our Community”. There will be bouncy houses, giant slides, a pony ride, picnic games, music, food, snacks and beverages, raffles, prizes, a variety of games, vendors, networking, and more! All proceeds from the event will go to P.S. 38 enrichment programs which are in jeopardy due to budget cuts. These classes continue because the PTA creates events and fundraisers to fund them. Enrichment prolongs the school curriculum by giving the children other specialized opportunities at a low cost, such as ballroom dancing, science club, violin, soccer, music production, chess club, art to name a few. The Pacific School is a school of the arts with outstanding teachers and students, creative arts programs including dance, music and visual arts, and an expanding G&T program. The halls buzz with music; there are violin, guitar, choir, and keyboard lessons for Kindergarten on up, ballroom dancing for 4th and 5th graders, rooms dedicated to science, art, computers and music. This year the school welcomed a new Dance Studio and a Music Recording Studio. There are partnerships with the nearby Mark Morris Dance Center. There are exciting things happening at P.S. 38. Building upon the leaps and bounds of accomplishments made by the administration and past PTAs, this year’s dynamic and innovative PTA, directed by its executive board (President, Christopher Brown, Treasurer, Kevin Szell, Co-Secretary, Karen Brown, Co-Secretary, Tatiana Dierckx) Pacific School is making rapid strides in building a strong, vibrant community. From the Spanish Club to Studio In A School Arts Program to Saba Soccer – the school is one of Brooklyn’s best-kept secrets. The Spring Carnival is a family must do if you’re in the area, especially if you’re in search of a new school!
