Peptides International Adds Mambalgin-1, An Exciting and Exclusive Catalog Product

Used In Pain Management Research and Drug Discovery, This Products Has Exciting Potential for Researchers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - April 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Peptides International Inc. is pleased to announce its newest product offering, Mambalgin-1.  Mambalgin-1, originally isolated from Black Mamba venom, is a 57 residue peptide containing 4 disulfide bonds. Mambalgin-1 has been shown to inhibit the acid-sensing ion channels, ASIC-1a, ASIC-2a and heteromultimers of these two channel subunits. Acid-sensing ion channels (ASIC) play a major role in pain pathways. Mambalgin-1 suppresses activity in central neurons and peripheral nociceptors, thus blocking pain.  Its potent analgesic effect was not toxic in mice.  Currently, Peptides International is the only source for this as a catalog product.  This peptide augments our extensive line of ion channel toxins and disulfide rich peptides.

Peptides International’s Mambalgin-1 (product number MAM-3778-PI) is available in 0.5 mg and 1.0 mg sizes.

In making the announcement, Dr. Michael Pennington, President and Chief Executive Officer, stated that, “we are delighted to offer this unique product, Mambalgin-1, which showcases our strength in complex peptide synthesis. We are confident that researchers in the ASIC ion channel community will find this product to be very useful in helping propel their programs forward. ”
