READING, U.K. - April 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Industry trade organisation, the BPIF, have used the newly certified Mirri Pak for HP Indigo to create an eye catching postcard to send to MP’s.

The BPIF is a not-for-profit organisation whose principal business is to support and represent the UK print, printed packaging and graphic communication industry.

The BPIF offers a wide range of training opportunities within these areas of the trade, including apprenticeships. Last year, they encouraged all of their apprentices across the UK to write to their MPs asking them to visit and see how valuable apprenticeships are in practice. Many MPs took part and a handful of the apprentices celebrated their success on the London Eye during National Apprenticeship Week (11th – 15th March).

The BPIF mailed out 650 postcards printed on Mirri material to thank MPs for their support. Amy Hutchinson Marketing Manager at the BPIF, said; “We really wanted to create something that stood out from amongst their daily post and kept them informed about the BPIF apprenticeship programme as well as highlighting the Print Industry as a dynamic industry in which to work.”

Amy continued; “We have used Mirri for a number of other items, including booklets for awards nights, so we knew it would be the right material to use to create something stunning.”

The BPIF chose a night time London cityscape scene that shows light catching on the Thames. It was digitally printed by 1st Byte, a leading digital printer and Mirri print partner, based in London using an HP Indigo 7000 series onto the recently certified ‘Mirri Pak for HP Indigo’ 415mic/280gsm substrate.

Jennifer Deacon, Marketing Manager at Mirri, a division of Celloglas said; “The BPIF chose a fantastic image that produced a spectacular metallic effect. Also, because it was digitally printed it meant that 650 copies could be produced, with minimal need for make ready sheets.”

1st Byte processed the artwork using the ‘Process Metallic Color SystemTM’ by Color-Logic. As a Color-Logic licensed printer, the software allowed the in-house creative team at 1st Byte to place white ink in the image to create dramatic and contrasting metallic effects without the need to spend time working on the white layer.

Amy added; “We always enjoy working with the team at Mirri, and we love the finished result. The product is spectacular and certainly matches our brief!”
