By: Carolina Elite Football “From this event, the BCSCVB estimates an economic impact of about $900,000 is generated for local hotels and businesses” says reporter Holli Conley, as she speaks about the economic impact around the 7 on 7 State Championship in Texas. Local organizers are aiming for the same future results as Wake Forest lands the 2013 North Carolina 7 on 7 State Championship. This year more than 50 teams featuring some of the top football recruits in the country will be participating in the tournament activities July 20, 2013. The event attracts thousands of spectators during the all day event. As the event grows it is anticipated the local economy in Wake Forest and the surrounding area will get a hefty economic boost each year. 7 on 7 football is an off-season workout program that most North Carolina schools use to improve the skills of quarterbacks, receivers, secondary players and linebackers. The game emphasizes passing using a 45-yard field and a one-hand touch for a tackle. Other tournaments including: Linemen’s Challenge, Punting, Field Goal Kicking, and Long Snapping, will also occur during the same day and a State Champion will be crowned for each event. The North Carolina Football Alliance and Carolina Elite Football will also host a Punt, Pass, and Kick contest for youth boys and girls age 6-15, and fun events all day to get the entire family excited about the upcoming season and taking part in the biggest day of football in the state of North Carolina. 20 Teams from around the state have already signed up for the event including local CAP 8 teams: Wake Forest Rolesville, Millbrook, Heritage, and Enloe, and Durham teams: Hillside and Southern Durham. It’s going to be a great day for football, the state of North Carolina and the town of Wake Forest. Business are already printing literature boasting their involvement, and planning sales, and special events for the weekend festivities.
