Dr. Jeremy Appleton to Lecture on the Most Bioavailable Form of Quercetin Available

Exclusive webinar sponsored by Integrative Therapeutics, Continuing Education credits apply!

GREEN BAY, Wis. - April 15, 2013 - PRLog -- On May 16th, through an exclusive webinar sponsored by Integrative Therapeutics, Dr. Jeremy Appleton will present Meeting the Quercetin Bioavailability Challenge: Alpha-Glycosyl Isoquercitrin. Naturopathic Continuing Education credits apply.

Flavonols occur naturally in many plant foods and are common components of our daily diet, with powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Quercetin, the most common dietary flavonol, is especially abundant in onions, apples and kale. However, the food forms of quercetin (mainly glycosides) are a different form than the form typically found in supplements (aglycone).

According to Dr. Appleton, “Food-based quercetin glycosides, such as isoquercetin and isoquercitrin, have much greater bioavailability than quercetin aglycone, owing to active transport mechanisms in the small intestine that recognize and process glycosides. The aglycone form is absorbed by the less efficient means of passive diffusion.”

A new, novel preparation of naturally-occurring quercetin glycosides, known as Alpha-Glycosyl Isoquercitrin, is the most bioavailable form of quercetin available. This presentation will review the differences between the forms, the advantages and indications for Alpha-Glycosyl Isoquercitrin, and the clinical research studies that have been conducted.

Dr. Appleton is a dynamic speaker who has lectured extensively around the United States on topics in nutrition, botanical medicine and dietary supplement quality issues.

There is no cost for this Continuing Educational webinar.
