Jefferson Galt : The Mission. Accomplished

The Mission, the new novel by Jefferson Galt, is published in paperback today and is available through Amazon.Com.

April 15, 2013 - PRLog -- The Mission, the new novel by Jefferson Galt, is a 180 degree departure from his "Pete, Fay, Love" trilogy.
And it's published today: "It's The Mission. Accomplished," says author Jefferson Galt.
"The Mission is a big swing from the previous books. Where Pete, Fay, Love was a story of undying love over half-a century, The Mission documents the swings in the state of mind of a long-term hostage and how the kidnap affects those he left behind," said Galt launching the book today. "Although the book is dark, the quirks in the the mind of Paul Johnson provide welcome relief from the unpleasant aspects of his condition.

"We are delighted to again be working with CreateSpace, an Amazon.Com group company which handles all the technical, logistical and accounting aspects of publishing. That frees us to do the artistic stuff. And it's always a bit of a thrill to see one's book listed in the world's biggest bookseller."

Over the next couple of weeks, the book will work its way across the international bookseller's network, being made available around the world. Until then, it is available from Amazon in the UK and the USA via links on the author's website.

"It's great when the book appears on the websites of many outlets - but buyers should be aware that some of the sites that advertise books - including some that advertise through Amazon.Com's own platforms, are ripping the customer off to an outrageous degree," said Galt. "When I found someone advertising one of my books for USD888 - when a new copy was a few dollars, I was livid. Amazon does not police these advertisers and so it is up to the customer to take care."

"The Mission" is listed in the UK at GBP10.99 and in the USA at USD13.99. Prices cannot be exactly translated due to variations in production and shipping costs.  While some resellers may charge a small amount extra, perhaps as compensation for offering a post and packing inclusive price, there is no justification for a large uplift, Galt says, pointing out that some of the rip-off merchants even falsely say that they have used books in stock.

"A quick and and out job, they said. It didn't turn out like that."

Notes; Paul Johnson is a desk jockey in the CIA's headquarters at Langley. He is chosen for a supposedly simple job. His job includes writing the CIA's staff manual "How to be kidnapped" designed to help officers when that happens. But his own identity is compromised and he is targeted and kidnapped by terrorists in southen Thailand and sold to a Philippines group suspected  to be linked to al Qaeda, setting his own experience against that he had gained while conducting interviews for the manual. The CIA and Thai authorities work together to recover him. His disappearance results in a change in CIA policy and by the end of the book we see the new policy in action in an explosive and unexpected conclusion.
