USave Wins "Good Business Egg" of New Zealand Award

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - April 14, 2013 - PRLog -- 11 APRIL 2013, WELLINGTON NEW ZEALAND.  The results are in from the Business and Community Shares (BACS) “Good Business Eggs” of New Zealand awards ceremony held at the Department of Conservation in Wellington Thursday night. USave.co.nz, an innovative online auction and shopping site that helps charities, clubs and schools fundraise, won the special award in recognition of its commitment to the community at large.

Nominations were generated when 66 New Zealand companies were put through their paces on their commitment to the community without their knowledge. “The award is significant because businesses get some acknowledgement for what they do  and the value lies in what the community truly thinks of them,” says the organiser of the event and founder of BACS Julie Donvin-Irons.   In addition to USave, the finalists were Contact Energy, BNZ Bank, Genesis Energy, CQ Hotels Wellington, Fonterra, NZ Post, Vodafone, and ANZ Bank.

“We were just so proud to be recognized amongst these landmark NZ businesses,” says USave Director and Brand Developer Brett Ashmore, “there were 3 Good Business Eggs awarded for Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility and the winners were BNZ, Vodafone and a little start up company called USave . . .we are over the moon!”  Community organisations were surveyed and have said which are the best New Zealand businesses to work with.

USave is an online shopping and auction site that makes a donation with every purchase and each time a customer registers to sell an item.   With over 200 charities, clubs, schools and non-profits participating,  it is the single largest fundraising portal in New Zealand.  The company is looking for investment capital and is poised to capture a percentage of the New Zealand online retail market, currently valued at over $2.9 billion and growing at approximately 12% per year.

BACS is a new organisation that facilitates community and business relationships to assess and improve corporate social responsibility strategies and benefit the welfare of everyday New Zealanders. Supported by The Stanley East Company, BACS has already attracted 55 organisations to participate in a community-oriented “hub” to “exchange information, skills and wisdom.”
