By: Admyrin E-com Services In Indian history costumes and apparel accessories are seen to fulfil two important criteria. They are opulence and simplicity. The choice of wearing apparels in India also depends on the person’s social status, financial status and orientation towards a particular religion. When we talk of ancient India the information about fashion can be seen to be available in sculptures. Take for example the clothing worn during Indus Valley Civilization (3000-1500 BC) was very simple. During that period men used to wear loin clothes while females used to be bare upto the waist. During Aryan civilization India people had more complicated style of clothing. Their clothing included upper and lower garments to which a cloak was introduced later on. After gaining independence Indian fashion industry was influenced with the effects of globalization. As a result the dressing style of Indians changed. However tradition was not forgotten by Indian masses. As a result Indian designers began to work on fashionable apparels that were a blend of modern style and Indian traditions. Take for example the kurtis of women are being manufactured to be worn on jeans. However designers do embroidery and stone work on it to display a cultural blend. Seeing the growth and fusion of Indian industry with the west due to globalization many brands from abroad have set up their markets in India. A report on Indian fashion industry stated that it was going to achieve a market worth above 200 crore to 1000 crore in the next ten years. Currently the Indian fashion industry is growing at an annual rate of 9 %. The branded fashion market size is nearly one fourth with a market worth of 5000 crores. In the coming years we can hope that Indian fashion industry will be creating a global impact and may acquire more customers in Indian and abroad market.
