Querencia at Barton Creek Offers Hearing Loop Technology to Residents

April 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Hearing loops are gaining popularity in large spaces such as houses of worship and auditoriums, and recently, this exciting technology came to Querencia at Barton Creek. An exciting innovation for the 36 million Americans who live with hearing loss, hearing loops are an easy-to-use technology that allow people to hear with ease in public spaces by turning hearing aids with telecoils into wireless receivers. Dr. Soriya Estes, AuD, from Estes Audiology, came to speak at Querencia about hearing loops and how utilizing this technology would benefit the daily lives of residents at Querencia with hearing loss.

“For our residents who utilize hearing aids, offering hearing loop technology will dramatically improve the way these residents are able to listen to and enjoy our  presentations here at Querencia,” said Leslie Dominguez, director of sales and marketing at Querencia.  “This is such an exciting and easy-to-use technology, and after hearing Dr. Estes talk about how to utilize it, we are so excited to be able to make this available to our residents.”

To operate, a hearing loop requires pushing a button, and clear sound is delivered directly to the listeners’ hearing aid. The loop magnetically transfers the sound signal to the hearing aid or cochlear implant with a telecoil receiver, which is built into most hearing aids.

A simple wire loop around an enclosed area, in this case the Querencia theater, enables telecoil users within the loop to clearly hear the sound signals being broadcast. By adding this technology, Querencia is taking yet another step to make sure residents experience life to the fullest.
