SAN DIEGO - April 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Monello (http://www.lovemonello.com)’s Executive Chef Fabrizio Cavallini  and co-founder Guido Nistri, along with Societe Brewing Company (http://www.societebrewing.com)’s Mark Schell, will serve up a menu of perfectly paired Northern Italian pizza and craft beers from April 14 through April 18. This menu will be available for lunch and dinner, in addition to Monello’s regular menu.

“We recently returned from a trip to Milan and were inspired by the tradition of pairing beer and pizza at all times,” said Nistri. “This Italian tradition goes hand in hand with Societe's belief that beer enhances the flavors of pizzas.”

Like in San Diego, Italy’s craft beer scene is on the rise - and for good reason. While wine has long been a common accompaniment to food, connoisseurs are now noting that beer may actually have a stronger capacity to accessorize various types of cuisine, particularly Italian.

Monello and Societe Brewing Company will demonstrate the palate pleasing pairings with special pizzas in addition to the regular offerings, including:

·         Pizza Margherita paired with IPA beer "The Apprentice”

·         Pizza "Tartufo" paired with Belgian beer "The Debutante"

·         Pizza "Dolce” paired with Imperial Stout beer "The Butcher"

The increasing popularity and secret to Monello’s Milanese style pizza is its homemade dough, which ferments for four days and requires additional days of care before it is deemed ready for the oven. With their ideal style of pizza in mind, Chef Cavallini and Guido Nistri developed the recipe after months of experimentation. The dough is light and soft in the middle, the crust is puffy at sight but crunchy at taste. Many pizzas incorporate Monello’s own mozzarella, made fresh in-house each day.

Monello’s pizza menu inspires instant favorites and welcomes guests to come back for more with combinations such as spinach, roasted bell peppers, sausage and raspa dura—or young parmigiano flakes—on the “Pizza Monello” and black truffle, mushroom, cheese sauce making the “Pizza Tartufo” ready to enjoy with a craft beer.

About Monello:
Monello, an endearing Italian reference to a “naughty little boy”, was created by the same family known for San Diego’s “best Italian restaurant”: Bencotto Italian Kitchen.  The “100 percent honest Italian” menu celebrates Northern Italian street foods and Milan’s glamorous aperitivo culture featuring expertly-crafted cocktails and complimentary “tastes from the cook.”  The menu spans a variety of polenta dishes; homemade spaghetti; home baked flatbreads; a selection of lightly fried food; thin crust “Milanese style” pizza; roasted meats and seafood; seasonal plates of vegetables; homemade gelato, sorbet and baked desserts; along with fresh baked breads and pastries.

Located at 750 W. Fir Street in the Little Italy community of San Diego, Monello offers lunch, Aperitivo, dinner and weekend brunch. The restaurant is closed on Mondays. For reservations, please contact Monello at (619) 501-0030.
