SOUTH PETHERTON, U.K. - April 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Leading South West accountancy firm, Albert Goodman, is concerned that thousands of local companies are struggling to cope with the changes required by HMRC’s compulsory Real Time Information (RTI) PAYE system, which came into force this week.

Matt Portt, Payroll Manager at Albert Goodman, says, “In the first week of RTI, HMRC and other major payroll software providers have experienced excess calls and long delays on their helplines, as employers are struggling to get to grips with the changes.

“To add to the confusion, HMRC stated it will not accept P45 submissions after April 6 2013, which has caused chaos for businesses still trying to submit their electronic returns for employees who left in March. We cannot stress enough the urgency and importance of businesses having the correct systems in place, as employees may end up being paid incorrectly.”

RTI, a new system requiring employers to submit an electronic return every time they pay their employees, became mandatory on April 6 2013.

Businesses which have not yet made changes to their PAYE systems, should contact HMRC or a trusted accountancy firm for advice.

Albert Goodman has offices across the region including Taunton, Chard, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare and Weymouth. For further information, visit www.albertgoodman.co.uk.
