April 14, 2013 - PRLog -- FTC World Championship Tournament will be showcasing the only San Diego school qualified to compete, Rock Academy High School, for its world-class robotics team. The Warriors, Team 4112, will participate in the international championship tournament held in Saint Louis, Missouri, April 24-27. Team 4112 earned their place by competing in the First Tech Challenge(FTC) division of FIRST Robotics.

“FIRST,” which stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology” has over 25,000 student participants compete for a mere 128 spots at the 2013 FTC World Championships. FTC teams build robots to accomplish missions that involve both autonomous and remote controlled operations during a match, partnered with an alliance team’s robot to compete against an opposing team of two robots.

“I appreciate everyone's commitment to excellence, professionalism, and Godly character,” said Scott Marshall, Headmaster of the Rock Academy.

On February 23, Team 4112 earned a spot in the championship by winning the Inspire Award in the San Diego Regional Championship Tournament held at Madison High School. This formally judged award is given to the team that truly embody the “challenge” and best represents a role model FTC Team. Team 4112 distinguished themselves from the fierce competition by displaying superior technical acumen, keen troubleshooting skills, and gracious professionalism during all phases of the competition.

Devotion and hours working on robotics alone have lead the young Rock Academy participants to inspire future leaders in Science and Technology. In addition to their involvement in athletics and academic excellence, they all maintain a “servant” heart and remain thankful to God for a great turnout.

“We have 1,000 man-hours, plus four months that goes into these robots and a lot of research and development to start off with on what are challenge is going to be,” said Lead PR/Graphics Designer and Rock Academy student, Matt Wright.

The Rock Church acknowledges the teams effort and encourages everyone to support the youth in their pursuit for a world championship. The experience of building and competing inspires the students to reach new levels and push beyond expectations in their quest to the 2013 FTC World Championship Tournament.
