Stories In The Mail LLC Uses New-time Technology To Bring Old-time Joy To Parents And Their Children

Per request of a parent or other adult, a personalized letter is written to a child in the voice of a mythological or historical character.  The child receives the surprise letter in the mail.  It has been written directly to him or her and contains a “personal account” of an adventure along with actual historical or mythological descriptions.

“Not too long ago, I read several studies about how kids weren’t reading as much and how reading aloud can help strengthen bonds between children and adult family members in addition to raising their IQ’s,” says Ellis.  “At the same time, I was remembering my own childhood excitement when I would receive a letter in the mail from my dad who was in the Navy and would be gone for months at a time.  The two thoughts kind of merged into this storytelling/letter writing idea and I knew I had to follow through.”

Stories In The Mail LLC uses high tech equipment and software that allows a letter to be printed with little indication that it isn’t actually handwritten – an important feature to keep the experience genuine for the young reader.  However, buyers do have the option of paying a little extra to have an authentically handwritten letter delivered to the recipient.

“So far, there’s been a lot of excitement from both parents and children regarding the letters.  We’ve had very positive feedback, as well, from parents and caretakers in terms of having a new way of connecting to a youngster that is relatable to both adult and child.“  

“But don’t think that writing a simple letter is all we do,” continues Ellis who is also a veteran of 15 successful years in the print industry.  “There is a lot of attention to detail with the whole process.  We are choosy about the paper and envelopes we use.  We took print samples from many types of machinery.  We tested several different pens and inks before deciding on a specific kind to use on all our handwritten letters.  Even the wax seal on the envelope flap was carefully researched before we settled on a supplier for that material. After all, we aren’t just writing letters.  We’re creating experiences.”
