SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. - April 11, 2013 - PRLog -- Apr. 11, 2013 - The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce wishes the new board of directors of the LBI Chamber, the best of luck and looks forward to the six municipalities working towards the betterment of the business community and meeting in a public forum which is going to allow the discussion of island wide concerns regarding visitor enhancements that will help the businesses thrive. Unified Beach Badges, Island wide public daytime transportation, clearer signage, beautification of the island gateway, public art/culture projects; have been all ongoing topics that can be addressed by this new organization since it has streamlined speaking with each municipality separately. The Southern Ocean County Chamber, founded in 1914 and which will soon begin their celebration of a century of service,  joins other Long Beach Island Business groups to the opportunity in finding solutions to the long ignored topic of tax incentives for businesses that are open year round, tax credits for landlords who allow vacant store fronts to be utilized and the formula these six towns will use to fund long term advertising projects, which will begin to make Long Beach Island as competitive as so many other resort areas.

The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce is a regional organization, and has strong partnerships with the local chambers in its footprint such as Lacey Chamber of Commerce, Barnegat Chamber Of Commerce as well as formed close bonds with chambers from key visitors areas like Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Sussex County Chamber of Commerce. It looks forward to another partner to help advance tourism and business growth.

"The need for additional advertising and travel show support is evident after Sandy” says Lori Pepenella Destination Marketing Director of the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce and LBI Region Destination Marketing Organization. "Marketing costs more money than ever and the funds recieved from grants certainly cannot support the amount of recovery marketing needed, timing is great to introduce another resource which will raise funds to answer the growing demand to launch full out of area campaigns to bring people to Long Beach Island."
