Follow on Google News | Nu and improved Villa Park makes club first carbon-neutral clubAston Villa has become the country’s first carbon-neutral football club thanks to help from burner manufacturer, Nu-way.
By: Nu-way The club now has a comprehensive waste management programme in place. This includes reducing its electricity consumption and having remote control of its heating, lighting and electrical equipment. A Nu-way burner is responsible for powering Villa Park’s undersoil heating – so Aston Villa’s games can go ahead as normal even when temperatures drop below zero. This prevents them from having to cancel games, which is a huge inconvenience to the club and thousands of supporters who are often in the process of traveling the length and breadth of the country to watch the game. “Football is one of the UK’s biggest past times,” said Rick Crees, Nu-way’s Trading Director. “It’s great to be able to say we helped Aston Villa to become the UK’s first carbon neutral club – we hope others follow their lead.” As well as Aston Villa, Nu-way provide the undersoil, stadium and training facility heating for Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Reading, Stoke City, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion, and West Ham United. So, while Nu-Way’s burners might not be at the top of fans’ transfer targets, they are fast becoming the unsung heroes of many football clubs. End
