Lineman Challenge State Championship

WAKE FOREST, N.C. - April 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Wake Forest-
On July 20, 2013,The men upfront will showcase their strength, explosiveness, and grit as one (1) individual and one (1) team will be crowned “THE BEAST(s)” of North Carolina during the State Championship Lineman Challenge. The challenge will be a day of power, stamina, and motivation as North Carolina’s high school lineman square of for the top “HAWG”. The events will take place during the 7 on 7 State Championship in Wake Forest North Carolina

The lineman challenge is an intense, emotional but friendly competition. These men and their teams will have the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of sports media and statewide football fans on a day that kicks of the beginning of the 2013 Football season.

The challenge consists of (8) individual events and (6) team events. Individual events include: Bench press, (1) man sled pull, tractor tire flip, medicine ball throw, (1 on 1) QB Sack Challenge, and 15 yrd trap pull, (1) man tug of war, 40 yard dash.  Team events include: Bench Press, (5) man sled drive, Farmer's Walk Relay, Obstacle Course Relay and Tug of war, Tractor Tire Flip

The lineman challenge allows offensive and defensive linemen to build unity and excitement for the upcoming season. The competition uses their speed, agility, quickness and strength while incorporating explosiveness, foot movement and leverage. However, it is also a friendly competition that is aimed at building respect and camaraderie for fellow players in the trenches. It’s time to strap it up!

This event is open to individual participants as well as teams. Teams can have no fewer than 5 participants and no more than 8 participants. Schools may enter more than one team if they choose. At the end of the 6 events, the top two teams in the point standings will face off head to head in a final event that will be revealed the day of the competition.

As (1) individual will be named State Champion and (1) Team will be named State Champion, strategy comes into play regarding who competes in what events.

July 20 will be the biggest day of football in the State of North Carolina.
