The Greenville criminal defense lawyer provided valuable information about changes that have been made to North Carolina laws concerning the clearing of criminal records.

GREENVILLE, N.C. - April 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Attorney Leslie S. Robinson, of The Robinson Law Firm, P.A., led an expunction seminar on March 1, 2013 for the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ). The seminar provided legal professionals with an important overview of law changes that have expanded the number of expunctions individuals can receive. Expunction is a process that allows a person to permanently erase a criminal record. Mr. Robinson presented attendees of the seminar with an Expunction Checklist, which was designed to help other legal professionals more easily break down and understand the new expunction statutes.

The General Assembly has increased the number of expunctions that can be used to clear a person’s criminal record. According to Mr. Robinson, these changes can be extremely beneficial to the clients of criminal defense attorneys if they are used correctly. Because the new expunction statutes appear to be highly complex, the seasoned lawyer created materials that can help attorneys categorize when certain expunctions can be used. In his Expunction Checklist, Mr. Robinson outlined the statutes in chronological order and included a Topical Index that allows legal professionals to easily find the crimes they are trying to get expunged. The materials also included legal forms that correspond with the various statutes. The seminar qualified for three continuing legal education (CLE) hours that could be used for the North Carolina State Bar Criminal Law Specialization credit.

This is not the first time that Mr. Robinson has serves as an educational resource for other legal professionals. He regularly serves as a CLE speaker for NCAJ. He has also carried out similar duties for the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina Public Defenders and the North Carolina Institute of Government. Furthermore, the Mr. Robinson has authored the DWI Criminal Defense Checklist, a legal practitioner’s reference that has become a go-to resource for North Carolina attorneys who defend individuals accused of driving while intoxicated.

Mr. Robinson—who has more than two decades of experience in criminal law—has also taken on other authoritative roles. He has been elected many times for leadership roles for a number of different bar associations. Currently, he is Chair of the NCAJ’s Criminal Justice Section.
