Taylor Vinters drives Cambridge Connection forward with an inaugural trade mission to Singapore

April 9, 2013 - PRLog -- The powerhouse technology clusters of Singapore and Cambridge UK are set to be united through Cambridge Connection – the new high-profile sector networking forum founded by international law firm Taylor Vinters and partnered by leading business organisations, Cambridge Capital Group and UKTI.

Created to ignite key collaboration, partnering and investment opportunities among investors, entrepreneurs, corporates, Government and NGOs from the Cambridge tech cluster with counterparts in Singapore – Cambridge Connection provides crucial links to generate investment opportunities and strategic partnering across the globe.

A first of its kind for the new era of international growth – the Cambridge Connection trade mission invites fast-growth technology-sector businesses to embark on a three-day visit to Asia from 7 to 9 May 2013, with attendance at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Singapore, enabling Cambridge connections to integrate with the UK’s fifth largest foreign direct investor. The three-day trade mission will also consist of a series of networking opportunities for a selected group of companies from the Cambridge hi-tech community.  

In exploring this prospective, Cambridge Capital Group and Taylor Vinters held a series of meetings in November 2012 with leading investment angels, funds, family offices, UKTI, and other professional firms to explore potential opportunities for the Cambridge Connection.

Says Struan McDougall, Director of Cambridge Capital Group, a leading business angel group of 40 investors and seed funds, which is building its international membership: “Our three-day visit confirmed that Singapore is clearly a potential launching pad for European tech firms seeking to enter the SE Asian markets, and we may be able to find potential co-investors for some of our portfolio companies that require Asian expansion.”  

As the UK’s largest trading partner in South-East Asia, Singapore is designated one of UKTI’s High Growth Markets. Ranked first globally by the World Bank in terms of ‘Ease of Doing Business’ – it is the UK’s fifth largest services export market outside the EU, worth £3.7 billion, with more than 700 UK companies currently based in this thriving international environment. The potential for this powerhouse technology partnership starts on 7 May 2013.
