New Ford Atlas Concept Announced

Ford unveiled an innovative new vision for the future of the pickup truck at the North American International Auto Show.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - April 6, 2013 - PRLog -- The Ford F-150 (http://www.ahford.com/custom/2013-ford-f-150) has been a hallmark of the pickup truck industry for decades, and now Arlington Heights Ford is pleased to announce that Ford has unveiled its design for the future of the pickup truck with the presentation of the all-new Ford Atlas Concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Ford’s fresh new take on the classic pickup combines pioneering design techniques with some of the most state-of-the-art engineering to create a truck that is sleek, efficient, and more powerful. Revealing exposed wheel arches, a wide stance, and a tough looking grille shows that Ford is committed to their “Built Ford Tough” philosophy, while active grille and wheel shutters, a drop-down front air dam, and power running boards make it clear that fuel efficiency was also a primary design concern. The design also features premium functionality with multiple tie-down points that are integrated inside the cargo box walls and load floor, 110-volt electrical outlets for charging power tools in the cargo box, and additional cargo space with a roof carrying system and expandable ramps.

In terms of performance, the Ford Atlas Concept is built for heavy-duty towing with an original dual-purpose tailgate step and cargo cradle as well as a dynamic hitch assist that helps line up the hitch with the trailer coupling. Hauling the cargo is a powerful new edition of the EcoBoost turbocharged direct injection engine, with sophisticated engineering that is able to increase fuel efficiency by up to 20 percent while still managing to increase power. This Auto Start-Stop engine shuts off automatically when the truck is idling to save on gas, except when the truck is towing something.

While the Ford Atlas Concept isn’t yet available to consumers, Ford’s innovative truck design and engineering is. The 2013 Ford F-series trucks (http://www.ahford.com/inventory/view/2013/Model/F-150/New...) are on sale now at Arlington Heights Ford. Starting at an MSRP of $23,995, the 2013 F-150 is available in Regular Cab, SuperCab, and Super Crew versions.
