Roselle Resident Margarita Estrada Chairs Toastmasters District 83 Conference in Newark NJ

ROSELLE, N.J. - April 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Roselle Resident and First Presbyterian Church of Iselin Administrator, Margarita Estrada, has been selected to Chair the 2013 Toastmasters District 83 Spring Conference.  The conference will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport, 128 Frontage Road, Newark, NJ 07114 on May 17-19, 2013. During this Spring Conference, District 83 will hold the election of its district officers, as well as host educational sessions for Toastmasters members, and conduct the District Level of the Toastmasters' International Speech and Evaluation Contests.

“The Conference theme, ‘Out of Many, Comes the Voice of Excellence!’ is a reflection of Toastmasters' multicultural diversity,” said Margarita Estrada.  “The success of District 83 Toastmasters is due, largely, to the diverse ethnic backgrounds of its 4,000 members, who bring with them experiences that they want to share. During this conference we will celebrate the excellence of our district achieved through multiculturalism.”

The District 83 Spring conference will offer a variety of interesting educational sessions that have been carefully designed to appeal to the interests and educational needs of district members. Attendees will have twelve workshops to choose from covering three tracks: Personal Development; Professional Development and Toastmasters Club Development.

One of the many highlights of the conference will be the International Speech, and Evaluation Contests.  Those attending will have the opportunity to see skills learned through Toastmasters demonstrated by some of the best speakers in the district! The winner of the International Speech Contest will represent the District at the World Championship of Public Speaking to be held in Cincinnati, Ohio.

During the conference, District 83 will present the Communications and Leadership (C&L) award to Karin Price Mueller, writer for The Star-Ledger, New Jersey's largest newspaper.  The award is presented to an individual who demonstrates excellence in communication and leadership.

Estrada is employed as the Webmaster, Administrative Assistant, and Food Pantry Co-Coordinator, for the First Presbyterian Church of Iselin.  Prior to her current position, she has held positions in the private sector as a Defined Benefit administrator, Defined Contribution administrator, and Health and Welfare administrator.

“Margarita Estrada has served the First Presbyterian Church for more than six years as Church Secretary.  In that role, she is regularly the person of first contact for people getting in touch with the church either in person, on the phone, or via the website and other media,” said Rev. James F. Thomas, Pastor, The First Presbyterian Church of Iselin.

Rev. Thomas further stated, “You usually either get competent and briskly efficient, or you get warm, sympathetic, humane and compassionate.  You don't often get both combined.  With Margarita, you do get both.”

Rev. Thomas added, “She is a delight to work with, is as loyal as the day is long, and makes my job easier every day.  I also know, because she talks to me about it all the time, how dedicated she is to the Toastmasters, and how much benefit and enjoyment she feels she has derived from it over the years.”

Margarita Estrada, ACB, 2013 District 83 Spring Conference Chair, has been a member of Toastmasters International since September 1, 2006.  Her Toastmasters career began with Toastmasters En Español, located in Union City, NJ. She has also achieved her Advanced Communicator Bronze within the Toastmasters program.   Currently, she serves as Vice-President, Public Relations, for Impact 21 Toastmasters in Rahway, New Jersey.

An enthusiast of the written word, in both Spanish and English, she translates work in both languages. She earned a BA at Montclair State University, Magna Cum Laude, in Communication Studies.
