The Puck Drops Here! The Kerr Village 3on3 Road Hockey Tournament and Media Challenge is on!

OAKVILLE, Ontario - April 4, 2013 - PRLog -- OAKVILLE, ONTARIO — On Saturday, April 20th, 2013, approximately 45 teams of road hockey enthusiasts spanning all ages will descend upon Kerr Village to compete in a friendly and lively day filled with food, fun and bravado! This year, the media challenge returns and media teams from across the region will compete in the hopes of gaining the Kerr Cup from last year’s winner, CHCH.

Sign-in begins promptly at 8:00 am (advanced registration is required) and play will commence at 9am.  Pads will be set up all along Kerr Street, between Rebecca and Lakeshore. Players are invited to enjoy a complimentary pancake breakfast from Cora’s and a filling home-cooked BBQ lunch will be served courtesy of the Kerr Village BIA and The Sanctuary. Tim Horton’s will be providing refreshments all day.  Some of this year’s sponsors include the Kerr Village BIA, Oakville Scion, Cora’s, CareerBuilder, Cameron’s Brewing Co., Boston Pizza, Tim Hortons, Oakville Home and Leisure, Boston Pizza, Canlan Ice Sports, First Ontario Credit Union, SparQ Street Communications, Tim Hortons and The Sanctuary. An energetic and always humorous live auction will be hosted once again by Last Car Standing’s Christian Potenza. This all day event will conclude at approximately 6pm with the presentation of the esteemed Kerr Cup to the Divisional Winners.

“The 3on3 tournament has raised more than $70,000 for charity since its inception in 2006. But it’s so much more than a fundraiser — it’s a community builder.” Says Kerr Village BIA Executive Director Richard Messer, about the impact of this popular annual event, “A venue like this one truly helps to create a feeling of belonging and a sense of neighbourhood pride.”.  He also thanked the 2013 tournament sponsors.

Adding excitement to this tournament is the popular Media Challenge, where media personalities will square off to represent their station and show their stick handling skills. Bystanders and fans can donate a loonie to your favourite celebrity teams – CTS, The Weather Network, Discovery Channel’s Last Car Standing, CHCH, and TVCogeco – as they too play for charity.
