Color It Blue And Walk, Roll, Or Stroll Along The Blue Carpet

An Evening to For All to Recognize, Celebrate, and Inspire Ability

BOCA RATON, Fla. - April 3, 2013 - PRLog -- From the flashing lights of cameras, to of course, a walk, roll or stroll down the “blue carpet”, TLC Mobility Foundation and Palm Beach State College are excited to present the “Blue Carpet: Celebrating Ability” event on April 22 at the Countess de Hoernle Building on the Palm Beach State College Boca Raton campus, from 6 - 9pm.

Billed as “a party with a purpose”, the event highlights two South Florida winners of the annual PROMability ultimate prom giveaway. This includes prom night limousine service, prom attire, hair styling, make-up, prom tickets, electronics, and a one-on-one mentor lunch as they prepare to move on to higher education or the workplace − all of this made possible by sponsors and supporters.

The fun and excitement will start from the moment guests arrive walking, rolling or strolling down the “blue carpet”, which will be covered by paparazzi and actor Danny Murphy, Rolling with Murph.  Organizers say this will be an evening of enjoyment for families and friends to support a worthy cause, but most importantly we are asking everyone to reach out to those young and old who don’t get out often, bringing them along to enjoy a memorable and fun time together!

Entertainment and prizes are on the program

Ashleigh Walters of Fox 29 News will be the mistress of ceremonies of the special evening, which features a special presentation of outstanding differently-abled high achievers who have provided inspiration through their amazing success and incredible life stories. Attendees will enjoy star treatment complete with hors d'oeuvres, music, raffle prizes, and exhibitors.  Also on the program are appearances by international artist Jossie Cordoba, Boynton Beach Community High School Dimensional Harmony, and DJ Hennessy of Doubleshot Entertainment spinning today’s top favorite sounds.

College involvement strengthens belief that education is essential to students with disabilities

“We are excited to co-host the Blue Carpet: Celebrating Ability event with Palm Beach State College because we feel they are one of our state’s finest educational institutions that can play a key role  — especially for students with disabilities in his or her quest for success for higher education or the workplace. They offer quality, affordability, smaller classroom sizes, and accessibility right here in our own community,” said Lisa Hamilton-Johnson, TLC Mobility Foundation President.

Dr. Bernadette Russell, Provost of Palm Beach State College at Boca Raton, said, “Recognizing that each student is unique with diverse needs and goals, we offer programs to develop the whole student, including ethics, leadership and community service opportunities. Our faculty members represent some of the best educators in their programs of study, and they are dedicated to challenging our students and helping them achieve their dreams”.

Donations, Sponsors, Exhibitors, Auction Items, and Volunteers Needed

“We are expecting some 200 guests to turn up, see and be seen on the blue carpet, and join us in showing support for diversity in our communities, not just here in South Florida, but statewide, as we go forward,” Ms. Hamilton –Johnson said, adding that volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors and auction items are still needed.

TLC Mobility asserts that the blue carpet event is geared to support the ongoing commitment and efforts of the Foundation to promote the inclusion of children and adults with disabilities into work, home, and community life by building a "make-a-wish" of transportation.  No matter what, you will enjoy a great company of guests to mix and mingle for a great cause!
