TUCSON, Ariz. - April 3, 2013 - PRLog -- April kicks off Tucson’s snake season, it won’t be long before our local animal hospitals and veterinarian offices start seeing bite cases rolling in. We’ve created this document in   hopes that it’s not your dog being treated for a snake bite.  Here are some easy steps to follow to help keep your dog safe.

•  Have your dog snake avoidance trained.  Below is a link to a reputable  snake avoidance trainer (see link below).

Remove all hiding places that snakes can hide in such as wood piles, rock piles, cactus piles and be sure to trim shrubs from the bottom up so you can spot snakes trying to hide under your trees or shrubs

Removing the snakes food source is key. If you have mice or pack rats living around your home, this will attract snakes.

•  Always check your yard before you release your dogs into the yard, in both day and night time.

Know the exact location of the closest emergency Veterinarian Hospital.

Teach your dog to respond to your commands even with distractions.
