Denver Company Hosts Canned Food Drive Event

DENVER - April 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Denver-based social network for philanthropy, SoRewarding, is teaming up with The Living Room to host a special benefit event for local nonprofit Food Bank of the Rockies this month.

Food Bank of the Rockies is the largest private hunger-relief organization in Colorado. Founded in 1978 and operating from a 900-square-foot schoolroom in Northwest Denver, the organization started collected bread from a nearby Safeway store. Today, Food Bank of the Rockies has grown tremendously and supplies to more than 1000 hunger-relief programs. Since its inception, the organization has provided nearly 472 million pounds of food to its partners, which translates to 369 million meals for people in need. Last year they distributed 41.3 million pounds of food, enough to provide 88,000 meals each day to children, seniors and families in need.

SoRewarding’s event will not only showcase an amazing local nonprofit but will also bring a new crowd to one of Broadway’s favorite wine bars. The Living Room is known for having one of the best happy hours in the area. The location not only features a large selection of wine by the glass, but also craft beers and a tapas menu.

SoRewarding’s goal is to involve a younger demographic in giving back to their community through integrating giving into daily activities. SoRewarding’s events team plans parties to bring the community together to give back to local nonprofit organizations. Partnering with Food Bank of the Rockies is one way for SoRewarding to thank the nonprofit for feeding the Denver community while hoping to inspire young Denverites to support the organization through “Good times for Great Causes.”

Anyone who would like to support this cause is encouraged to join the SoRewarding at The Living Room at 5:30pm on Thursday, April 18 at 1055 Broadway in Denver and bring canned food items to support the cause.  Tickets are available for purchase on www.SoRewarding.com for $15 and $20 which include two levels of drinks and appetizers.
