Hundreds of Motorcyclists Expected In Marshall, TX This Weekend

MARSHALL, Texas - April 1, 2013 - PRLog -- 500 to 700 members of the Gold Wings Road Riders Association will be in Marshall beginning Wednesday for three days to participate in a five state regional meeting.  While most of the activities are for the rally members, there will be activities in downtown Marshall available free to the public.

Friday night the Gold Wings are hosting a car show and beach party/street dance followed by a Gold Wing light parade.  All car owners of unique or antique vehicles are invited to cruise on down to North Washington to show their vehicle pride.  North Washington will be blocked off for the historic and custom cars that will be on display.  There will be drawings and prizes for all car entries. Registration for the car show, at no cost to any car owner, will begin at 5 pm in front of Under The Texas Sun with prize drawings at 8 pm.  

The beach party and street dance starts at 6:30 PM in Telegraph Park on North Washington. A local DJ will be providing the music for the public and club members to relax, unwind, and dream of being of being beachside.  Gold Wing members will be holding several contests for best dressed themed couples and “crazy legs.”

At 9:00 PM is the starting time of an extraordinary parade to be held in the Washington Square District of downtown Marshall as hundreds of Gold Wing motorcycles, many with special decked out lights will be on light tour.  Led by Marshall’s police department through the streets of Marshall, this parade of lights by motorcycles only happens once a year.      

Drivers in Marshall will be need to be on the lookout for motorcycles during the rally.  Bike safety is an important aspect of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.  Their members invite drivers at intersections to “Look Twice & Save-A-Life.”  Most motorcycle accidents often occur where drivers become distracted and do not notice the two wheel vehicles.
