PALM HARBOR, Fla. - April 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation has launched a new and exciting summer camp menu, complete with sports, cooking, trips and even a camp dedicated to the iPad. The focus this summer is “letting kids be kids,” according to Mathew Eberius, CPRP, the department’s Recreation Specialist and Camp Director.

The camps, offered for ages 4-17, offer an array of activities that will suit any kids’ wish this summer. Among them are new additions to the department's already-popular sports camp programs: Mini Chefs Cooking Camp, Dance Camp and the new “Little Techs” camp, focusing on educating pre-school and kindergarteners using an Apple iPad.

Eberius, who has grown up in public recreation programs, remembers camp as a time to let go and have fun with friends outside of the traditional school environment. “We had fun,” he says, “and I will always remember the important lessons we learned in camp, too.”

As the department’s newest addition, Eberius oversees the camp programming as well as the recreation programs held in their main facility, The Centre of Palm Harbor, a large multi-use community center complex. His goal, he said, was to “bring an adventure to Palm Harbor” this summer. And he’s done just that.

CSA Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation, the local manager of recreation services for unincorporated Palm Harbor, offers a variety of year-round programs, sports and special events. “It was about harnessing what the kids wanted and rolling it into one program,” according to Eberius. The result was an all-day program, entitled “Camp Adventure.” The camp runs from 8:30AM to 5:30PM Monday-Friday all summer long. And prices start at just $100 per week.

“The key was keeping it affordable – and safe – so that kids could grow up here each summer. I want them to go home knowing they had an amazing summer and looking forward to the next adventure.”

“Camp Adventure” will feature trips, special guest speakers, sports, cooking and much more. It will give kids the opportunity to learn life-long lessons while enjoying the Florida summer.

Parents can register at The Centre of Palm Harbor, 1500 16th Street, Palm Harbor. For information, you can call the Parks & Recreation Office at 727-771-6000 or visit PalmHarborCamps.com.
