Sip the Rainbow with the Boston Center for Adult Education

BOSTON - April 1, 2013 - PRLog -- WHAT:            On Friday, May 17th, 2013, the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) will host “Sip the Rainbow,” the second annual cocktail reception to mark the opening of its new exhibition The Bear Sessions: Portraiture, a series of photographs being showcased at the BCAE during its May/June 2013 term.

Co-creators of The Bear Sessions: Portraiture, local photographer Joel Benjamin and producer John O’Connell, seek to explore what constitutes authentic, modern masculinity. The project’s resulting images of over 80 men from Cape Cod to Texas, reflect an identity and sexuality not represented in mainstream media. These men, known as the Bear Community, present and embrace their masculinity in unique and individual ways, and represent strength, passion, joy, vulnerability and most importantly authenticity not represented in iconic gay imagery. In this selection from the project’s portraiture, the subject’s confidence and self-acceptance encourage viewers to celebrate those same qualities of confidence, pride and passion within themselves.

Entry into the reception, held from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, is a $20 donation which includes unique Grey Goose cocktails created by local mixologists using the colors of the Gay Pride Flag as their inspiration. The exhibition and event are made possible by generous contributions from Eastern Bank, Grey Goose, the Ki Bar, Northern Trust, and ONE Condoms, whose support and services help provide guests a unique experience while they “sip the rainbow.”

WHEN:           “Sip the Rainbow” opening reception will be held on Friday, May 17th, 2013 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. The Bear Sessions: Portraiture will be on display during the BCAE’s May/June term.

COST:             $20 donation which includes three complimentary signature cocktails. All proceeds to benefit the BCAE.
                       The exhibition will be free and open to the public during the BCAE’s normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 9:00PM to 5:00PM and on select weekends.
