Missouri Fashion Week, LLC is a platform for creative designers to explore fashion not only as a commodity, but as an art form. From contemporary fashion to street wear, to experimental ideas and avante - garde collections, Missouri Fashion Week features shows by emerging and established designers. The event will also feature cutting-edge forward thinking performances presented by arts organizations calling the Grand Center District home.

Missouri Fashion Week is presented by Grand Center, home to more than 30 arts organizations, 12 museums and galleries and 1,500 arts and cultural events that take place each year. Recognized nationally as a premier arts and entertainment destination, the District will draw hundreds each night during four nights of fabulous fashions and artistic expression. The nearly 16,000 sq. ft. Moto Museum located a block from the Fabulous Fox will transform into a fashion hub buzzing with designers, models, vendors and much more.

WHY HOST IT IN ST. LOUIS?

Did you know that there are more than 25 fashion weeks in the United States that are named after cities? We found two regional fashion weeks and two that are named after states; Virginia and Alabama. And now, we have Missouri Fashion Week! It’s exciting to be among the first. And it’s even more exciting to have it in St. Louis, a city that’s rich with fashion history.

From the late 19th century to the end of World War II, the St. Louis Garment District was second only to New York as an American center for  by Giant Savings" href="http://www.downtownstl.org/live/explore/DistrictsNeighbor...">fashion design and manufacturing. We lost it and we have a chance to bring it back with events like Missouri Fashion Week. St. Louis and other cities across the state are buzzing with multiple fashion events, driven by the raw talent of designers who graduate each semester from Missouri colleges and universities that offer world-class fashion programs. At least five contestants on the cult following show ‘Project Runway’ are from Missouri, four of them from the St. Louis region. Designers and consumers are inspired by the re-emergence of fashion as an art form. It couldn’t be a better time for Missouri Fashion Week.

Endorsed by state officials and community leaders, the inaugural year of Missouri Fashion Week will bring together VIPs, professionals, trendsetters, buyers and consumers for an exciting and unique platform to showcase Missouri, while bringing appreciation of what this state has to offer to the rest of the country’s fashion audience.

“Many initiatives are city, county and region specific, but few projects unite the entire state,” said Missouri Senate Leader Tom Dempsey.

“I wholeheartedly endorse this event. I hope other government officials in Missouri will join me in endorsing this worthwhile effort,” Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder.”

In addition to the four days of fashion week, we have two online contests. The fresh face model contest will help support talent in Missouri. Aspiring models that live in smaller towns will have a chance to be a part of a major event that could help launch their careers. The Fashion Stylist Challenge will give an opportunity to stylists who will be challenged to create an innovative look for a model, featuring

hair, makeup, and wardrobe styling. The looks will be captured by our photography partners. The

world will get to vote for their favorite model and stylist.

The official website, www.missourifashionweek.com launches April 1, 2013 with more details about the event and how people can participate. For media inquiries, contact co-founder and event producer Cillah Hall, chall@xanadupr.com, (636) 259 - 9059.

Our magazine sponsor in the St. Louis region is StreetScape Magazine, presenter of St. Charles Fashion Week which wrapped up with record attendance in 2012. Sponsors also include media agencies from across the state and beyond.
