NAPERVILLE, Ill. - March 28, 2013 - PRLog -- (CHICAGO) The Black Women’s Expo (http://www.theblackwomensexpo.com) (TBWE), presented by State Farm is the number one national destination event for African American women in the Midwest.  TBWE will host a star-studded line-up of performers, speakers and authors during its run, April 5 - 7, at McCormick Place.  This year’s Expo, sponsored in part by Walgreens (http://www.walgreens.com), marks the 19th year of the popular women focused event.

TBWE kicks off on Friday with a very special couple’ conversation and book signing with award winning R&B singer and author, Keith Sweat.  Sweat’s new book “Make It Last Forever”, offers tips on how to fix, mend, and reinvigorate troubled relationships.  Rounding out Friday will be a performance by the multi-faceted performer-actress, NAACP Image Award nominee and Dove Award-winning vocalist Tamela Mann.

Saturday’s jam-packed schedule includes a plenary session with author and inspirational speaker Susan Taylor.  Dr. Ian Smith will take attendees through his revolutionary “Shred Diet Challenge” and Saturday afternoon will also feature an  “Intimate Conversation” with The View’s Sherri Shepherd.   The “first lady” of R&B”, Faith Evans, will be live in-concert to finish out the day.

Sunday’s line-up will be just as impactful, featuring a conversation with the always-insightful Dick Gregory.  Comedian Kim Coles will present a unique melding of comedy and inspiration with her session entitled “Gratitude and Forgiveness”.

Inspirational music will also take center stage on Sunday with performances by the Verizon “How Sweet the Sound” competition winning Acme Choir and Rev. Charles Jenkins and the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church Choir who took home five prestigious Stellar Awards earlier this year.

The Expo will feature daily fashion shows, including natural hair shows sponsored by Walgreens.  “We’re extremely excited to again be a partner for this great Midwest destination event”, says Steve Pemberton, divisional vice president and Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) at Walgreens. “The Expo offers an opportunity for us to bring innovative products and services directly to our customers, many  of which may be found in our Wellness and Beauty Pavilion.   We welcome this opportunity to reach out and touch our customers and offer them products that directly contribute to their health and well-being.”

The three-day exposition is a partnership with MGPG Events and Real Times Media and is designed to empower, enlighten and educate women and girls of all ages. Follow the conversation using #theblackwomensexpo
