BOKSBURG, South Africa - March 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Following the recent scandal on the use of undeclared proteins in meat products, especially that of horse, donkey, water buffalo and goat, The Fish & Chip Co. is embarking on a social media campaign: ‘The Right to Say Neigh’ to inform consumers of the contents of their ‘Hot and a lot’ meals. The Fish & Chip Co. feels strongly about the rights of consumers, and aims to demonstrate this through the campaign by taking a stand and professing that consumers have the right to know what they are consuming, and that they have the right to say no (or neigh) to consuming these products by making informed decisions.

“We feel that the contaminated meat scandal is unacceptable. Our upset is not so much about the threat to health but rather about how improper food labelling is deceiving, and how retailers and suppliers are failing consumers. By mislabelling products, food suppliers fail to meet the high standards that consumers expect form them,” expresses Marcel Strauss, Managing Executive of The Fish & Chip Co.

“Because we value our consumers’ freedom of choice, we proclaim that none of our meat products, such as russians and viennas, contain any traces of undeclared meat products. The Fish & Chip Co. only makes use of pure beef, chicken and pork in our non-halaal dishes, and of course, wild and not farmed fish.”

To back their stance, The Fish & Chip Co. has obtained formal confirmation from all its meat suppliers, that no contaminated elements are present in the meat that is supplied.

The ‘Right to Say Neigh’ campaign will be implemented primarily on Facebook and Twitter with the hopes of encouraging consumers in the social space to take a stance against dishonest suppliers, in a tongue-in-cheek manner.

“Even though the tone of the campaign will be light, we feel very strongly about matters that infringe on the rights of our consumers and plan to showcase this sentiment through our continued support of our loyal customers,” concludes Strauss.
