LIVERPOOL, U.K. - March 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Growing up in Liverpool UK KennyK always had a passion for music and being a dj was his dream. Coming from a single parent family his mother could not afford to buy him decks so from the age of 12 he would spend hours and hours with two cassette players attempting to beatmatch and mix music.

On his 21st birthday his mother finally bought him his first set of decks which were Sony DJ9000's these were his pride and joy for the years to follow. Unfortunately mixing music with cassette players was a little different to mixing vinyl on decks.

Working in a hotel in Llandudno at the time he finished his shift and took a two hour bus to the nearest record shop in Bangor to buy his first Vinyl. Rushing back to his digs in the hotel he could not wait to start mixing like a pro.

After setting up his decks he put on his first record and was smiling with excitement until the track was near its end and the mix was about to begin. He soon found that it was not going to be as easy as he thought as the tracks where completely out of tempo and the mix sounded awful.

After months and months of coming back to his room and practising he finally mixed two tracks perfectly and was soon getting to grips with adjusting the tempo and matching the beats.

Moving back to a small flat in Liverpool he would host parties with his friends and would receive great feedback from the ravers in attendance. Although KennyK was learning more and more over the years he never attempted to get on the club scene and would only mix at home as a hobby.

Then came the family and work life and the dream of performing to crowds had faded away.

At the age of 30 Kenny started tuning into several internet radio stations and thought maybe I could do that, and so he applied for a number of online radio stations and was accepted to dj live from home.

As the stations he was working on had full schedules he could only manage to do one show per week which was not enough so the decision came to try and build his own website and online radio station.

With no experience of web design or what was involved he started by building a free site with a website builder and found how to also add a free radio stream to the site.

Searching for talent on youtube he soon found a number of djs who had the same dream and bedroom-dj was born.

Bedroom-dj was a small poorly built and designed website but for some reason the visitors started coming to the site and listening to the djs who were broadcasting from home.

The website had over 100.000 visitors in its first year however it was not very user friendly, landing a well paid job in 2012 he decided to invest in the site to take it to the next level.

Spending thousands of pounds he had the site completely re developed and the dream was back on.

The new look site took over three months to build and was relaunched in July 2012, bedroom-dj now has seven radio stations each playing a different genre of music and attracts amateur djs from all across the world.

Each of the stations receive thousands of unique listeners per month and have been tuned into by music lovers in 122 countries.

No longer do amateur djs have to perform at home with no one hearing their perfect mix. The site encourages young people who have an interest in music to sign up and get broadcasting for free.

Bedroom-dj is a perfect stepping stone for amateur djs who would like to get out of the bedroom and into the clubs, building confidence is essential in the dj business which held KennyK back in his younger years.

Due to Kenny's family and working life he could not even contemplate attempting to get gigs so his dream may never come true of playing to a packed nightclub.

But this is where bedroom-dj is helping others as a number of our young djs have now gone on to perform in clubs, without the experience and feedback from listeners of bedroom-dj they might too of been held back from handing in that first demo mix.
