Lake Pointe Health Network Named One of the Healthiest Employers in North Texas

March 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Lake Pointe Health Network (http://www.lakepointemedical.com) (LPHN) based in Rowlett, Texas, was recently selected as one of the Dallas Business Journal's Healthiest Employers in North Texas (http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/blog/2013/02/dfw-companies-named-as-dbj-healthiest.html) for its remarkable dedication to providing a healthy workplace. LPHN received the No. 9 ranking in the large company category.

The Dallas Business Journal’s annual Healthiest Employers awards program evaluates organizations using six key categories: culture and leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communication and marketing, programming and interventions and reporting and analysis. With more than 600 employees, LPHN was selected in the large company category, along with 19 other companies.

LPHN implements a year-round wellness program where individuals are rewarded for reaching or taking steps to reach specific health goals related to four factors: cholesterol, body mass index, blood pressure and tobacco use. The staff has opportunities to take part in wellness seminars, challenges and activities. Each month, participation is awarded with chances to win prizes and in 2012, 86.9 percent of all LPHN employees participated.

LPHN employee, Susan Smith, who works in pre-operation, touted the success of the program saying, “It’s nice to be able to get credit for things you do on a regular basis.” Another employee, Libby Garrett, participated in LPHN’s Biggest Loser challenge measuring body fat loss. She recalled enjoying the competitive atmosphere of this wellness program which resulted in many participants losing weight."

The hospital strives to distinguish itself as a leader and adds the Healthiest Employer Award to a long list of awards and accreditations including recent Cigna Center of Excellence designations. Particularly, LPHN’s Lake Pointe Medical Center received the 2013 Founders Award from The Bridge Breast Network and the Lake Pointe Imaging Center was recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
