Follow on Google News | Sheraton Montazah Switches off the Lights for the PlanetAs global warming has become the biggest challenge people had to face and the world’s climate has been changing for the worse since last decade, Sheraton Montazah Hotel Alexandria considered environmental protection as an extremely important issue.
In March 23, 2013 and for the third year consecutively, Sheraton Montazah also joined millions in the globe celebrating the Earth Hour by switching off lights for an hour from 8:30 pm. The hotel’s participation in this exceptional ecological event which saved 330 KWH making 47% of total energy saving during this particular hour is a continuation of its commitment to protect the environment not just for the people who presently live on earth but also for the many generations to come. Joining this global event was also to educate and create awareness about the importance of saving our planet. The hotel prepared for guests on this particular occasion a candle light dinner at the Café Coquillage and La Mamma Restaurant, green cocktails as a special welcome to incoming guests and snacks that do not need energy to cook, together with displaying a big banner explaining hotel’s efforts and initiatives for the environment. ““Taking part in this year’s Earth Hour is not something we take co-incidentally. We are implementing and having long term plans to raise awareness about sustainability and green living. It’s not just switching off lights for an hour, but setting an example together with other millions on earth who sincerely believe in this initiative” Said Atef Wilson, General Manager of the Hotel.
