Morgan Crushes Carr and Rides to Victory

CANNING TOWN, U.K. - March 27, 2013 - PRLog -- The Canning Town sports hero is now undefeated in eight professional fights as he rode to victory over the more experienced boxer from Wiltshire.

The fight begun with a bizarre change of events as the scheduled 8 x 3 minute rounds was altered to 6 x 2 minute rounds. As the bell signalled for the start of the fight, Carr’s corner abruptly halted proceedings claiming that the rounds and times were wrong.

The referee, Robert Williams checked with ringside officials but with the corner threatening to withdraw their fighter, he allowed the show to proceed at 6 x 2 minute rounds.

Unfazed, Billy Morgan boxed on but later commented “It’s frustrating because you train for 3 minute rounds and you’re set for that 2 minutes of boxing with a step up in aggression and attack in the final minute. That all had to change.”

The Trowbridge boxer, alias ‘Dirty Dan’ had nothing to trouble Morgan with as he slipped, ducked and weaved his way through punches to land his own shots, particularly the jab and hits to the body.

The east end attraction took all 6 rounds with the scorecards at 60 – 55 to the local lad and notching up another impressive win to please the many fans wearing the white Billy Morgan branded t-shirts in the crowd.

Billy used social media networks to thank the several travelling fans for their support. Followers came from all corners of the UK to watch the rising star perform his duty in the ring. “I want to thank my fans for their support. People came from Belfast, Manchester, Derby, Newcastle, Corby, Brighton, Wales, everywhere really. That win was dedicated to them all.”

Morgan remains undefeated and has now moved up to number 25 in the British rankings.

The young star commented on his ambitions for the year. “I’m looking to keep busy and then assess where I am at the end of the year. It’ll be nice to fight for a title if my team think I’m ready just before Christmas.”

Top of the bill, British and Commonwealth middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders retained his titles with a wide points win over brave challenger Matthew Hall.

Saunders bombarded Hall with shots to the body that appeared to hurt Hall on a number of occasions as the pair stood and traded, but the champion also displayed his flashy ring skills and took the win with scores of 119-110, 120-108 and 120-109.

Thursday's win in Bethnal Green edges the 23-year-old closer to a clash with domestic rival Chris Eubank Jr.

Chief support Bradley ‘Super’ Skeete exuded confidence in a crowd pleasing win over tough veteran Peter McDonagh to retain the Southern Area title.

The night also paid witness to a stunning stoppage from Paul Butler with a body rippling shot that kept Alfadi on the canvas for many minutes while he received medical attention.
