LITCHFIELD, Conn. - March 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Do you wonder about your family ancestry?  With so many genealogy resources available online, it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start.  In this presentation, Sheila Lafferty will teach you how to begin as well as expand your family history by covering the three most popular, helpful, and comprehensive genealogical resources available online: Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org, and HeritageQuest.com.  Come and learn how easy it is to find your ancestors through historical and vital records, U.S. federal census files, immigration and passenger lists, historical newspapers, and more from the comfort of your own home and at the Oliver Wolcott Library.  Familysearch.org and HeritageQuest are both available at OWL and remotely from home.  Ancestry Library Edition is available to everyone on all of OWL’s public access computers.

Sheila A. Lafferty is the director of the Julia Brooker Thompson Library, University of Connecticut Torrington Campus.  She earned a Masters of Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University and has worked as a librarian for UConn Libraries since 1989.
