GREENWICH, Conn. - March 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Greenwich, CT -- Green & Tonic (https://www.facebook.com/greenandtonic), a quick service restaurant serving nutrient dense foods and freshly pressed organic juices, today announced that a special visitor will discuss the benefits of raw foods at their Cos Cob location on March 30th. Five years ago trucker Dave Conrardy (http://daveconrardy.com/) was 430 pounds and suffering from multiple maladies including diabetes and cancer.   His life was transformed by a raw food diet and now he is traveling the country as a proponent for the health benefits of raw foods.  He will be sharing his story locally this Saturday, March 30th, at Green & Tonic in Cos Cob.

"It's a phenomenal diet," he said. "I would honestly say every facet of my life: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual has been changed."

Mr. Conrardy is touring the country as a teacher and advocate for the kind of diet which led to a loss of 200 pounds and vast improvements in his health.  He will be making a stop locally at Green & Tonic’s Cos Cob location which opened last June.  With the expansion of its retail operations, Green & Tonic is committed to educate and inform the public about the value of healthy eating.  The visit by Mr. Conrardy – The Raw Food Trucker – provides this education.

“Dave’s story is a remarkable testament to the benefits of healthy eating and I think more and more people are beginning to understand this,” says Green & Tonic’s managing general partner, Cai Pandolfino. “The obstacle for many is how to transition their eating habits and this is where Dave’s story is so inspiring.”

Conrardy made a dramatic change to his diet while working 70 hours a week traveling the country as a big rig trucker. Now he wants to teach others how to integrate the benefits of a raw food diet into their lives.

“If I can do it, anybody can do it," says Conrardy.

Cai and Dave Pandolfino established the Green & Tonic brand on-line in 2010, offering customers a wide variety of cold-pressed juices, teas and shakes using the highest quality organic fruits, vegetables and nuts for home delivery.   Last March, they opened a take-out only location at 1098 Boston Post Rd. in Darien, CT and followed with the opening of their first full-scale restaurant at Cos Cob in July of 2012.

“Green & Tonic fits a unique niche with an increasing demand,” said Mr. Pandofino. “But we are aware that many people still don’t understand the profound health benefits of a diet made up of raw, organic produce.  We have an on-going commitment to change this through educating the public.”

As the range and diversity of Green & Tonics products have grown, so too have the numbers of people expanding their dietary regimen.

“We found that people who first ate our food as a novelty – to try something new and different – are now integrating meals inspired by us into their everyday diet,” observes Dave Pandolfino.  “We are happy to inspire such changes in habit and we hope Dave’s story will bring this to another level.  What he has to teach may be lifesaving to some suffering from chronic maladies.”

Initially offering drinks and juices for home delivery, the eat-in restaurant they opened in Cos Cob last summer features a wide-array of foods from vegan/vegetarian wraps, salads, soups and protein bars to oatmeal , dips and spreads, parfaits and their signature smoothies.

“Our customers love Green & Tonic because it makes them feel good,” says Cai Pandolfino, “but rarely are those benefits illustrated in such stark terms as with Dave Conrardy.  Our customers have already discovered the energizing impact and mental clarity that comes with nutrient dense foods.  Dave’s story shows there is so much more.”

“At age 51, I realized I was dying,” explains Conrardy.  “I had colon cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure.  One doctor said the damage to my kidneys was irreversible.  I lost 230 pounds over the course of the first year of juicing and have weaned off of all but one of my medications. I have as much energy as I did in my late twenties, and there’s an emotional shift as well — I’m no longer angry."

Those who wish to learn more about Conrardy’s experience are invited to meet him at Green & Tonic in Cos Cob, 7 Strickland Road on March 30th at 4pm – 6pm.  Mr. Conrardy will speak to the group which will then be followed by an informal reception with an opportunity for free samples of some of Green & Tonic’s own healthy, raw food recipes. Tickets are $25 and available via email: hello@greenandtonic.com or by phone: 917 232 5822.
