RAVENGLASS, U.K. - March 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Over the Easter weekend, children aged 5-15 years will travel free on the Railway known as ‘La’al Ratty’ if they bring their favourite teddy bear along.  There will be a bear judging ceremony at 3pm and the winners will receive a HARIBO Easter Bucket as part of the Railway and Ullswater ‘Steamers’ Easter Fun.

Free discovery trails will also be handed out when passengers on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway buy their tickets over the Easter weekend. These can be completed and handed in at either end of the line to receive some HARIBO sweets.

On Good Friday, there will be guided discovery trails led by Chris Berry for any passengers who wish to join him.  The trail will start at Ravenglass at 10.30 and will end at 12.30pm.  Chris and those passengers who wish to do so can catch the 12.50pm train to Dalegarth to start the Dalegarth Trail with Chris at 2.30pm.  This will end by 4.30pm, allowing families to get the 4.50pm train back to Ravenglass.  Others may just wish to join the trail at Dalegarth.

Completed trails will receive HARIBO treats. Charges will apply for train travel and food on the trail, but the guided activity is offered on a donation-only basis with any donations assisting the Railway’s museum fund.

Over at Ullswater, there will be quiz cards hidden in the lake guides given to passengers boarding the boats. These can be completed and handed in at one of the pier houses in return for free HARIBO treats.

On April 3, 9 and 10, the RSPB is running nature trails at Glenridding Pier House.  Families can ask for a pack from the RSPB team, which will ask them to identify, observe and describe several things with a connection to wildlife in the local area.  Families will also be able to have fun tackling some craft activities, such as making a creature from natural materials.

Participants in these activities could get a prize of a HARIBO Easter bucket, if their entry is a star prize winner. Ullswater ‘Steamers’ mascot, Sammy the Squirrel, will be there to encourage the youngsters, while also raising a smile and giving good cuddles.

Ullswater ‘Steamers’ marketing manager, Rachel Bell, says: “Don’t miss out on our Easter Fun and free HARIBO treats, our guided trails, or our family activities.  We have lots going on that everyone in the family can take pleasure from, whether they are 9 or 90!
